About Potters Place.

Potter's place is a monthly fellowship & Luncheon Club for local Senior Citizens.

We start at approximately 10.30am on the 3rd Thursday of every month (except August when there is no Potters Place and December when it sometimes is on the 2nd Thursday). Helpers are there from about 8.30am starting to prepare and we start collecting those who need transport at about 10-15 am.

After an initial cup of tea/coffee and a chat we have a short Communion Service starting at 11 am. A cooked lunch consisting of main course and dessert followed by tea/coffee is next. I should say here that we have three teams of excellent cooks so the meals are always really good, and a willing band of helpers who make sure that things run smoothly.

Some form of 'entertainment' is provided each month. This usually takes the form of a speaker, slides, video, singing - something of interest to everyone (hopefully).

We had decided not to have entertainment in January/February/March to allow people to get home before it is too dark or cold. However, this is under review.

We generally have 40-50 sitting down to lunch (including helpers) and we make a charge of £2 each for the day to cover costs. We usually manage to accumulate a small surplus which, together with two very generous donations, we have used this year as a substantial contribution towards the cost of a new catering type cooker, the P.C.C kindly making up the difference.

We are able to take a few more members so if you know of anyone who you think might like to come, please contact one of the Committee.

Our Committee consists of (in alphabetical order) - Don Cash, Christine Eyre, Ron Eyre, Norman Harrison, Margaret Shocklidge and Elaine Walker. For any further information you can contact any one of us. Ron Eyre (On behalf of Potters Place Committee).
