The "If I Were God..." week - A Feast for Body and Soul

A Feast for Body and Soul
On the last Saturday Evening of the mission week, when we stepped into St. Botolph's we might have been forgiven for thinking we had absentmindedly taken a wrong turning and had arrived at a smart restaurant by mistake. Chairs had been moved and placed around candlelit tables, which had been beautifully set for dining. There was a special feel to the atmosphere.

Phil and Lindsey Burch certainly lived up to their well-deserved reputation and produced an excellent meal which was served so expertly by their loyal and hard-working team of helpers.

Between courses we had the opportunity of listening to ex-rugby international Simon Smith's honest testimony of events which had led to him becoming a Christian, and during coffee we were treated to a song by Carol and Adrian Keach.

The evening ended with a riveting talk from David Jackman, which was delivered so eloquently and entitled: "If I were God … I'd give everyone a second chance." How reassuring to hear that if we turn to God and are truly sorry for our sins, then all our past mistakes are wiped clean and we can rest in the knowledge of God's love and forgiveness.

A truly inspirational evening.
