The "If I Were God..." week - Not so odd, after all

Men's Breakfast at the Stirrup Cup
"I have never been to a Pub so early in the day!" said one of the participants as we assembled for the Men's breakfast at the "Stirrup Cup" at 8.30a.m. The landlord had been up early to prepare a really splendid breakfast (egg, bacon, sausage, tomatoes and a liberal helping of mushrooms!) for the 48 men who had booked.

The Men's Breakfast was one of the events of the Mission Week, and those present heard Simon Smith, ex-Rugby International, tell how at one time his objectives had been playing for England, a wife and family, a BMW, a nice house and a dog. These objectives had, by and large, been achieved, but he had discovered an even more important priority in life, knowing and serving Jesus Christ.

Sam Owen, a member of the Cornhill Mission Team followed this with a straightforward account of what being a Christian means, from Matthew 11 v 28: "Come to Me ….."
